A native of Oxford, Mississippi, Gwendolyn J. Gipson was born May 11, 1955, to the late Paul Buford and Jacynthia Johnson. She professed her faith in Christ at West Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. She received her GED through Northwest Community College.
Gwen was faithfully employed with North Miss Regional Center (NMRC), where she faithfully served until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed going to the casino with family and friends and was known for going above and beyond to help anyone in need. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than anything in this world. Gwen lived a joyful life and answered God's heavenly call on February 7, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Rayonda Gipson and Kendra Gipson, both of Oxford, Mississippi; four grandchildren: Xavier Houston, Tanaria (Edwin) Pegues, Kiana Morgan, all of Oxford, Mississippi; TyMonae Berry, Marietta, Georgia; six great-grandchildren: Eyliah Pegues, Ariyah Houston, Eyden Pegues, Eryn Pegues, Majesty Mosby and Ky'Leigh Draper; three sisters: Baretta (Fred) Mosley and Debra Johnson, both of Oxford, Mississippi; Sharon Buford, Abbeville, Mississippi; three brothers: Willie (Diane) Johnson, Oxford, Mississippi; Vincent Buford, Abbeville, Mississippi; Kenneth (Geneva) Buford, Oxford,Mississippi; her aunt: Lula Patton, Oxford, Mississippi; best friends: Brenda Armstrong, Shulla Coleman and Clifton Tatum; two special sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents: Paul Buford and Jacynthia Johnson; her grandmothers: Lula Mathis and Magnolia Buford and her half sister: Valley Vernell Price Dunn.
Her love will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us until we meet again.
